Being Nice To Parents

Sometimes it can be hard to be nice to your parents, especially when they tell you you can't do stuff that you want to do. Instead of yelling and trying to get your way, try to think of it from their perspective. Usually they give you rules for a reason, and they're worried for your safety so they enforce these rules. So if it's a reasonable rule then grit your teeth and just deal with the punishment or whatever you can't do. If it's not reasonable, ask your parents, and if your parents still say no, then you know they aren't going to let you have it, so there's probably no way you can get it by yelling or pouting or throwing a tantrum. Maybe present your side of the story and why you would like to do it so bad. But if they still say no, then forget it! Best not to cry over spilt milk. Move on and think of something else you can do.

Tips for Safely Walking to School

I’m sure you’re hearing constantly on the news how kids go missing, and other scary stuff like that. Truth is, that stuff is happening, and the best thing we can do is to avoid it if at all possible. When you walk to school, always have someone with you whether it be a parent or a friend. (I recommend a parent though.) It’s always better that way. Second, try not to walk after dark.  Third, just be careful, and get where you need to go fast. It’s not that hard to be careful, so if we all took the time, the world would be a better place.

Homework Tips

There is one simple easy way to schedule homework sessions and get the most out of them. First, pick a time of day that you feel most alert and awake at, and use that as your homework time. Schedule other things around your homework, because you want to set an easy time to remember, and not get confused. Try to keep focused, and be in a quiet area, away from TVs, windows, and… *ahem* computers. Reward yourself whenever you’re done with your homework by getting a healthy snack or taking a cat nap. (hey, we know we’ll need them)

Extracurricular Activities

Extracurricular activities get you more involved in school and they help you make the most of yourself and expand your limits. You can choose from lots of extracurricular activities. They help your schoolwork as well. The best part is, you barely even realize that it’s helping you academically until you get your report card! They also boost confidence, and get you to know more people and expand your hobbies.

Peer Pressure

Peer pressure is cruel. When people try to force you to do something, stand up for yourself. When you say no, they will think twice before trying to do it again… but this doesn’t exactly fix the problem. You might want to tell an adult that you can trust what’s going on. Adults usually help to look out for you, so if they see the bully pestering you, no doubt they’ll come over and see what’s going on. But, the best thing to do for peer pressure and bullying is to ignore them. It works the best.

Underage Drinking

Underage drinking can kill and is very bad for you, not to mention it could affect other people.
Even if you can’t drive a car, you can still hurt a person if you drink. Let’s say your little sister is watching while you’re drinking. She might think its okay, and give it a shot herself.
When you drink, you can become addicted, and it is very hard to quit once you start to drink.  Underage drinking is horrible, and can easily kill you. Try this interactive game from Nickelodeon.

Allergies!

I know what these feel like. Allergies are things that bother you so you scratch, cough, or even break out in hives!!! They aren’t a pretty picture...
When your body realizes something’s coming In that can harm you, it fights against it causing you to cough, sneeze, or anything like that! When you cough or sneeze, it actually helps you get rid of the allergy faster!
Allergies can be deadly if serious enough.  Some kids can’t even get a cookie without looking it over! I am one of those kids Also; other kids have to sit at a special table away from the other kids because of what they might be eating. This can make them feel left out. If your friend is sitting at the peanut butter free table because today is peanut butter sandwich day, go sit with them… and DON’T BRING PEANUT BUTTER!

Exercise!

Kids need to get exercise so they don’t get obese. One problem with kids and exercise is that they’re always indoors playing video games. A solution… those video games like Dance Mat Revolution or something that helps them get up and off the couch. When they get exercise, they also feel better and more confident, and they are healthier too. Also, summer’s coming up and that means swimming or water balloon fights! Woo hoo! That’s always fun, and they get you cool. Plus, they also help you get exercise!

Running your dog around the neighborhood is also a good way to get active and get exercise… but stay safe!
